This past week, our daughter Savanna was adopted again! Our kids went to WinShape Camp put on by Chic-fil-a. They had a blast and learned a lot about Christ and themselves. The theme this year was "Heart Castle" and they learned that their hearts are the throne room of their castle. The big question was, "Who is sitting on the throne of your heart?" It was challenging to all three. They had to ask themselves if Christ was seated on their throne or if they were hogging the seat. Much to our joy, Savanna received Christ and trusted Him to forgive her sins. She admits that she is still struggling with letting Christ always sit on the throne of her heart, but we reassured her that is something we all struggle with. This means Savanna has been adopted into God's family. She is now a child of God and the ultimate victory is won for her. Now, we have to disciple her. Just as there is ongoing adjustment after we adopted her, there will be ongoing growth and change as she adjusts to her eternal Father. As we told her, she now has a "super power" to break old habits and fears, avoid sin, and become who God wants her to be.
I spoke with her camp counselor who was with her when she received Christ. From that conversation and ones we've been having at home, we are assured she understands what she has chosen. She knows she is a sinner who needs Jesus' forgiveness. She knows he died on the cross for her sins and rose again to save her. She knows it means Jesus needs to be the king sitting on the throne of her heart. She also knows it is a struggle. This is an answer to prayer. It is a prayer I pray for my kids every day. "That they would know Jesus Christ. That they would hear His voice and know how much they are loved. That they would be drawn to Him and see that they can trust Him." Anytime we draw closer to Christ and see Him clearer, we see ourselves and our situation clearer. I believe a new level of clarity has come for Savanna. Praise the Lord for His mercy
