LIGHTS, BIBLE, ACTION!

A Fun Way to Study Narrative Portions of Scripture.
LISTEN. CREATE. LEARN.

WHAT IF YOU MADE A MOVIE...

Picture
The stories in the Bible can seem strange, foreign, or confusing. That's because it is foreign! It was written in an ancient, Eastern culture. Laid out below is a way to connect with this foreign text and see it come to life.

I have used this process with adults, children, tweens, & teens. The response is always the same. They get engaged, excited, and they connect with Scripture in a way many never have. It works for family devotions, small groups, or for the individual.

The basic idea is to pretend you are going to make a movie about the Bible. You want it to be the most accurate Bible movie ever made. You are going to conduct pre-pro meetings to figure out how to make this movie. Pre-pro stands for "pre-production." Film makers use this process to decide how a movie and its scenes will look and feel. It is a process that involves all sorts of people form all sorts of backgrounds, so don't worry if your not the "creative" type!

The point of this process is to have a fun way to learn how to study the Bible. Even though this process is only for narrative portions of the Bible, the ultimate questions underlying the process is used in any portion of Scripture. Learn more on the Bible Resources page. To get started, simply click on each step below.

STEP 2: Read the Story OUT LOUD!  - find out why this is important

STEP 3: CREATE THE SET with Q & A  - get into the physical space of the story

Step 4: Discover the Characters  - walk a mile in their shoes
